Think Twice Before Applying Cosmetics on Children

Posted on

When it comes to the safety of cosmetics. It seems daunting to review every ingredient and chemical to ensure safety not only in adult but children and infants too. Some ingredients are safer for adults and not quite safe for infant exposure due to toxicity levels. Children and infants are far more likely to haven adverse effects from the same exposures due to their smaller bodies, and as a result cosmetics companies are creating products specifically for infants and children.

Thankfully, apps and research companies are creating more efficient ways to look up product safety reviews and ratings.  Websites such as EWG’s skin deep, Good guide and Red List by safe cosmetics are some of the most common sources for a quick reference on product safety and toxicity index.

Understandably, parents want to keep their young ones fashionable and sometimes this includes using cosmetics that are not infant-grade quality, which is highly discouraged. Luckily, more companies are now creating child-safe cosmetics such as nail polish, lipstick/gloss, hair products and so much more. Nowadays, this includes all-natural alternatives for your everyday favorites such as those previously mentioned.

Next time before you lather on that lotion, gloss, or desired makeup on that sensitive skin, ask yourself how safe it is and consider checking the safety of the product on the cosmetics databases above.
